Nick Morchak is a dedicated public servant, financial strategist, and community advocate whose leadership in government finance and service to the Mahoning Valley exemplify the spirit of the 25 Under 35 Award. As the Finance Director and Treasurer for the Mill Creek Metropolitan Park District, Nick plays a critical role in maintaining one of the region’s most cherished public resources — overseeing a $20 million annual budget with precision, transparency, and accountability.

Nick’s commitment to fiscal integrity has not gone unnoticed. Under his leadership, Mill Creek MetroParks was honored by the State Auditor’s Office with an award for a clean audit during the 2022–2023 audit period — a testament to his excellence in financial reporting and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. As the department head, he not only manages all financial operations but also leads a staff member while serving as chair of the Finance Citizens Advisory Committee, ensuring public input and fiscal transparency remain at the forefront.

A graduate of Youngstown State University, Nick holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Economics, which laid the foundation for his strong analytical skills and deep understanding of public finance. As an active member of the Government Finance Officers Association, he continues to refine his expertise by attending the organization’s annual conferences, where he explores new systems and practices to improve efficiency and productivity across the MetroParks.

Nick’s commitment to the Mahoning Valley extends far beyond the office. He served for four years as a football coach at Canfield Local Schools, helping shape young athletes both on and off the field. In addition, he volunteers with the Tri-County Marine Corps League’s Toys for Tots Drive, contributing to meaningful holiday experiences for children in need. His actions reflect a spirit of service, leadership, and generosity that is deeply rooted in community values.
