Share and Celebrate
Dante Bernard is a passionate museum educator, storyteller, and community advocate whose commitment to history, inclusivity, and public engagement is already making a lasting impact in the Mahoning Valley. As a Museum Educator for the Mahoning Valley Historical Society, Dante brings the region’s history to life, connecting thousands of students with powerful stories that reflect the Valley’s diverse cultural legacy.
Since joining MVHS in 2023, Dante has led more than 300 outreach programs, reaching over 5,500 K-12 students across the region. His classroom programs, which utilize hands-on learning and primary sources, not only meet state standards but also amplify underrepresented voices in local history. His ability to connect authentically with students and educators has led to increased demand for his presentations and earned the Historical Society the 2024 Local History Outreach Award from the Ohio Local History Alliance.
A proud summa cum laude graduate of Youngstown State University, Dante earned his Bachelor of Arts in History and was actively involved in the YSU Honors College, Phi Alpha Theta, and Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. His dedication to academic excellence, public service, and storytelling shines through in every project he undertakes — from contributing weekly historical articles to The Vindicator to leading walking tours, summer programs, and special events across the Mahoning Valley.
Dante is also a nationally recognized emerging leader in the museum field. He was selected as one of only 100 members nationwide to serve on Youth250, a Gen Z cohort helping shape the national conversation around America’s 250th anniversary. Through this prestigious initiative, he collaborates with institutions like the National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution, and Institute of Museum and Library Services to plan future exhibits and events that elevate youth perspectives in history and culture.
Beyond his professional work, Dante is active in the arts and civic life. He serves on the Board of Directors for Hopewell Theatre, where he assists with fundraising, operations, and production. He has also worked as a stage manager and performer, using theater as another avenue to educate and inspire. His past community involvement includes volunteering with the Dorothy Day House and supporting local events throughout Youngstown.
With a rare combination of academic rigor, public history expertise, and youth-centered leadership, Dante Bernard is redefining what it means to educate and engage through history. His voice is helping shape the story of the Mahoning Valley — and soon, the nation — in thoughtful, inclusive, and innovative ways.
For his bold leadership, educational impact, and unwavering commitment to community, Dante Bernard is a standout recipient of the 2025 25 Under 35 Award.
